Aluminum glazing is conventionally divided into two types: “cold” and “warm”.
Cold aluminum windows are designed for glazing unheated spaces—balconies and loggias, verandas, entryways, terraces, etc. These windows have a hollow, single-chamber profile without thermal insulation additives. These windows don’t have to meet stringent energy efficiency requirements, so their hardware is lighter, making them more affordable.
There are numerous applications for insulated aluminum windows, including in industrial and public buildings, private homes, and city apartments. Insulated aluminum windows are often used in the restoration of older buildings, as aluminum allows for the imitation of the style of bygone eras. The insulating profile consists of three parts (two aluminum parts and a thermal bridge), each manufactured separately and then joined. The aluminum profile is pressed using powerful hydraulic presses. A profile for the thermal insulation insert is also pressed. Polyamide (or polythermide) is used in manufacturing to increase the strength of the fiberglass-reinforced material.
